A Dozen New Year’s Resolution for a healthier, happier life!

As we enter a new year, many among us have a list of resolutions we would like to make. Mostly, it would include changes to make that would move us towards a more positive direction in our health, especially, whether it’s physical, emotional or mental. While you figure out what yours will be, here are some suggestions from us – 22 to be exact. And oh yes, here’s to your health!

Reconnect with those who we have grown apart with

When it comes to our mental and emotional health, keeping grudges just won’t do! It fills our heart with negativity, and poisons our emotions. So, really, how bad could it have been that we just cannot forgive and forget whatever that has happened in the past and make amends, especially if it’s with a family member, or even with someone who used to be a close friend? reconnect and reunite, will you, and see how much of a weight that will be lifted from your heavy heart! The same goes if it is actually you who needs to apologise for something done in the past.

Stop comparing your life with anyone else’s
We’re constantly trying to keep up with someone that we know, and if not our neighbour, it’s a co-worker, or even a celebrity! Why do we keep doing that? Well, it’s time for a change, and to remember that the best person you’d always want to be is your own authentic self. You are good enough the way you are, so just strive to be the best version of yourself!

Limit/lesson the use of gadgets

Save your eyesight (and in many cases, your posture), and limit your gadget time to as minimal as you can manage to. We promise you, your body will thank you for it. Instead, increase your time spent with reading a book instead, or other beneficial activities like trying out a new recipe, or simply staring out the window at a tree, the park, at people walking by, etc. Unplug your life and better health will surely follow suit.

Start going for regular medical check-ups

Other than the fact that we are living during the time of a pandemic, it’s also a fact that there have been too many people we know whose lives were either cut short or the quality of it was compromised by a dangerous disease which was did not detected at an earlier stage. So, don’t let it happen to you – go for regular medical check-ups and keep abreast with what’s going on with your body.

Make improvements on your daily diet

Our bodies need nourishment to thrive and be healthy, and it can only be done by taking in the right kind of nutrients found in wholesome, fresh foods. So, eat your vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds – lots of them each day. These foods contain live enzymes, and micronutrients as well as antioxidants that will keep your body in better shape, inside and out!

Say goodbye to bad habits, once and for all

If you have a bad or detrimental habit you’ve been meaning to drop, well, this is it, and the time is now! There is simply no better time to do this, so just decide to ditch it, whatever it is, and feel your self-esteem rise!

Lessen your sugar intake

This is a big one, and it may also tie in with other resolutions, for sugar is, quite simply, an addiction. Yes, loving sweet stuff and needing to have a dessert after each meal is already an addiction, so strive to put a stop to it by limiting the amount of sweet and sugary foods you eat before slowly eliminating it altogether from your life. This may not be an easy one, but the results if you’re successful will be well worth your effort!

Take regular mini breaks from work

Whether it is to take the family out for a trip or for spending some alone time in peace, this year, make it a point to take regular mini breaks from work and just enjoy that quality time any way you want. After all, don’t you deserve it?

Pack your own lunch

This particular resolution, if seen through, won’t just save you money, but it will also save your health, for you will be more inclined to pack a healthier, more wholesome meal from home. Some discipline might be needed to cook and prep your meal for packing, but hey, your wallet will thank you and so will your body!

Reach your ideal weight and maintain it

Regardless if you are over or underweight, reaching your ideal weight is necessary to be healthy and fit, so whichever extreme you happen to weigh in at on the scales, work on it and start to enjoy a healthier, happier life. In any case, a healthy, balanced diet coupled with regular exercise will surely get you there, so work on it and enjoy the fruits of your efforts!

Exercise more than you’re doing now

This advice is for those who do not move their bodies much, as well as those who are currently working from home due to the pandemic. Our bodies need to move to stay healthy and fit, so it’s up to you to get up and move it about any way you can – walking, cycling, jogging, dancing, swimming, etc. Anything other than sitting still in front of your computer all day! Believe us, just increasing your movements daily will reap beneficial result for your health!

Be well-groomed and presentable at all times!

Don’t you just love to be around someone who looks well put-together and well-groomed? It just puts you at ease, doesn’t it? Well, it’s time to be that person! Make an effort to ensure that you are always clean, fresh and well-dressed. It won’t hurt to always smell nice either! Remember too, to keep your fingernails clean and trimmed, and your hair combed and tidy.
