Focus Point, Malaysia’s leading optical retail chain, celebrated World Sight Day 2025 with a heartfelt reminder that every story counts. Themed “Love Your Eyes, Every Story Counts,” this year’s campaign shines a spotlight on the importance of eye health and the personal stories behind every clearer vision achieved.
The launch, held at Mid Valley Megamall, was officiated by Dato’ Sri Suriani, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health Malaysia, together with Dato Liaw, President & CEO of Focus Point, and industry partners. The event underscored a nationwide call for Malaysians to prioritise eye health, with particular attention on children’s myopia and the impact of vision care on families and communities.
“Vision care is never just about glasses or screenings. It’s about the lives that change once someone begins to see clearly. Behind every statistic, there is a human being — and every story counts,” said Dato Liaw.
Nationwide Eye Screenings and Community Outreach
Up to September 2025, Focus Point has provided nearly 30,000 eye screenings nationwide, reaching employees, rural communities, and schoolchildren — including expanded outreach to Melaka, Penang, and Sabah.
In a notable partnership with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Konan University of Japan, 170 villagers in Semporna received vision screenings and free eyewear, many for the first time. Children’s vision remains a top priority. Through the Focus4Sight School Vision Project, over 3,000 students from 31 schools were screened, and nearly 1,000 pairs of glasses were sponsored for children from B40 families.
Partnerships That Empower
Focus Point continues to strengthen its community impact through meaningful collaborations:
- 200 pairs of eyewear pledged with Great Heart Charity Association
- 96 students supported through Lions Club KL North
- 20 teachers trained as “Vision Guardians” under Rotary Club of USJ, enabling 500 pre-screenings in Penang schools
- Over 500 teachers onboarded through the Teachers’ Privilege Card programme
In collaboration with ZEISS Group, Focus Point’s week-long roadshow — World Sight Day Roadshow at Mid Valley Megamall (6–12 October) offers free comprehensive eye screenings, utilising advanced diagnostic tools to detect cataracts, glaucoma, retinal diseases, and other conditions early. The initiative reflects Focus Point’s belief that eye health is part of a broader story of inclusivity, sustainability, and human connection.
The event also features:

Engaging the Public: Stories That Inspire
To mark World Sight Day on 12 October 2025, Focus Point will partner with Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International delegates, who will share eye health stories from around the world. The same day will also feature a Panel Discussion with Focus Point representatives and eye care experts, offering insights into myopia management, early intervention, and the importance of regular eye checks.
As part of its ongoing efforts, Focus Point supports the “My First MyoCare Lens” campaign by ZEISS from 6 October 2025 to 28 February 2026, helping parents take the first step in protecting their children’s vision through accessible myopia management solutions. The company also reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability as a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact, embedding responsible practices across its operations.
“Behind every pair of glasses, there is a story. Every story counts. Every eye matters. Every life deserves clear vision,” concluded Dato Liaw, honouring the dedication of over 250 Eye Care Professionals nationwide.
