Pantai Hospital Cheras has marked a major milestone in its more than 30-year journey of caring for the Cheras community with the unveiling of its refreshed hospital façade. More than just a modern redesign, the new look reflects the hospital’s ongoing commitment to providing patient-centred, accessible, and compassionate healthcare.
The launch event was officiated by Tuan Tan Kok Wai, Member of Parliament for Cheras, together with Dr Kamal Amzan, Chief Executive Officer of IHH Healthcare Malaysia. They were joined by Erica Lam, Regional Chief Executive Officer (Central Region), IHH Healthcare Malaysia; Chong Soon Mei, Chief Executive Officer of Pantai Hospital Cheras; members of the hospital team, community representatives, and invited guests.
Held alongside a community health carnival themed “Steps to Better Health,” the event celebrated not only the hospital’s refreshed identity but also its deep connection to the families and residents it serves.
“This unveiling is more than a refreshed look for Pantai Hospital Cheras. It is a renewal of our promise,” said Dr Kamal Amzan, CEO of IHH Healthcare Malaysia. “For over three decades, this hospital has stood as a trusted partner to families in the community, and we remain committed to serving with care, dignity, and trust for the years ahead.”
Dr Kamal also emphasised that healthcare must go beyond treating illness. “It is about strengthening families, reducing inequality, and giving every person the dignity of care. That is the responsibility we carry at IHH Healthcare Malaysia—whether in our flagship hospitals or here in Cheras—where success is measured not by the buildings we stand in, but by the lives we touch.”
Pantai Hospital Cheras CEO, Chong Soon Mei, shared that the hospital’s focus remains on putting patients first. “By listening closely to their needs and expectations, we continue to improve access to care, upgrade our facilities, and enhance the overall patient journey. Our goal is to provide care that heals, while ensuring every patient and their family feel supported and at ease from the moment they walk through our doors.”
Guest of Honour Tuan Tan Kok Wai added that the new façade symbolises growth and progress for the hospital. “Since its establishment, many families have sought care here. It’s reassuring to see the hospital continue to evolve while staying true to the community it serves. The health carnival is a wonderful way to celebrate this journey together—reminding us that health is a shared responsibility.”
The hospital also announced several upcoming enhancements to improve accessibility and patient comfort, including:
- Clearer, more welcoming signage at the Emergency Department to enable faster access to urgent care.
- Refurbishment of the paediatric ward with upgraded patient rooms for greater comfort.
- A new parking area near the hospital to make visits more convenient.
Together, these upgrades underscore Pantai Hospital Cheras’s vision of making every step of the patient journey smoother, more comfortable, and centred on individual needs.
The day concluded with a lively community health carnival featuring free health screenings, first aid and Basic Life Support demonstrations, a lion dance performance, wellness booths, and children’s games — all designed to inspire healthier lifestyles and strengthen community connection.
