(Kuala Lumpur, June 24) — The Taiwan Health & Wellness Hub, guided by Taiwan’s International Trade Administration (TITA) and implemented by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), was officially launched today at Level 3 of the MATRADE Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

Featuring 12 top-tier Taiwanese enterprises, the exhibition spans AI medical solutions, cutting-edge medical devices, professional healthcare services, and wellness innovations, highlighting Taiwan’s technical excellence and pioneering capabilities in the health and wellness sector.

In his opening speech, Simon Wang, President & CEO of TAITRA, remarked: “Malaysia is one of Taiwan’s closest and most trusted partners. Our two economies share a longstanding relationship marked by robust trade, reciprocal investment, and dynamic exchanges across business, academic, and cultural communities. Taiwan now stands as Malaysia’s fourth-largest trading partner, while Malaysia ranks as Taiwan’s seventh-largest.”

He emphasized that the Taiwan Health & Wellness Hub is more than a product display—it is a strategic platform for real-world engagement, knowledge sharing, and long-term cooperation.

Mr. James Chang, Director of the Economic Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, highlighted that Malaysia is the first overseas location for establishing this Hub. Malaysia’s rising health awareness, its medical tourism appeal, and government policy support make it a strategic gateway into the ASEAN market.Taiwan’s global competitiveness in smart healthcare and biotech innovation aligns well with Malaysia’s healthcare growth strategies, including the 15% annual increase in Taiwan’s medical exports to Malaysia. This hub is set to be a vital connector in the Taiwan–Malaysia health industry value chain.

Mr. Johari Abu Kasim, President of the Association of Malaysian Medical Device Manufacturers (PERANTIM), noted that: “Taiwan and Malaysia share the same values — courtesy, honour and appreciation, which can be transformed into business partnerships. I also encourage my peers in the health and wellness ecosystem to take full advantage of this opportunity.”

The event gathered around hundred distinguished guests from both nations, including Mr. Mazlan Bin Harun, Director of China & Northeast Asia Section, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE);  Mr. Hasan Addly Mohd Isa, President of Malaysia Medical Device Association; Ms. Tsai Hsin Tien, National Vice President of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Malaysia as well as representatives from leading hospitals, private clinics, and healthcare professionals — demonstrating the high importance both sides place on advancing health sector cooperation.

Strategically aligned with Taiwan’s “In Region, For Region” initiative, the Hub integrates medical expertise, AI technologies, and professional resources to position Taiwan as a reliable and forward-looking global health brand.

Located on Level 3 of Menara MATRADE, the Taiwan Health & Wellness Hub features an exhibition of advanced medical and wellness solutions from Taiwan.
