Introduction

Founded in 2002, Dr. Foot Technology Co., Ltd. is one of Taiwan’s most recognized leaders in foot health innovation. The company was built by a team of physical therapists and podiatrists with a shared mission to address foot health issues and raise public awareness about their impact on overall wellbeing. Today, Dr. Foot operates 26 stores across Taiwan and has produced over 200,000 pairs of individually designed, handcrafted health insoles.

Understanding Foot Health

Our visit began with an engaging educational presentation by Brian Lin, Chairman and Founder, Dr. Foot Technology Co., Ltd., alongside Amos Hsu, Operations Manager, Dr. Foot Technology Co., Ltd. Together they walked us through the fundamentals of foot anatomy — from arch structure to common conditions such as flat feet, plantar fasciitis, and overpronation. The session brought home a crucial insight: foot alignment affects not just the feet, but posture, knees, hips, and the spine. Early intervention through proper support, the team emphasized, can prevent a wide range of downstream health issues.

Personalized Foot Assessment

Each visitor had their feet professionally scanned and assessed, receiving a detailed breakdown of their individual foot anatomy including arch height, width, and pressure distribution. Drawing from AI-based arch measurements and data from research on tens of thousands of Asian adults, Dr. Foot has developed insole solutions that effectively reduce plantar pressure and increase contact area. Based on our results, we were each fitted with a pair of insoles tailored to our specific needs — a genuinely personal and immediately practical experience.

Innovation and Technology

Brian Lin and Amos Hsu also walked us through Dr. Foot’s production process, showcasing the craftsmanship behind their biomechanical insoles. A particularly exciting highlight was the preview of their latest DIY photo and foot diagnostic app, which enables users to assess their foot condition at home using only a smartphone — a powerful step toward making professional foot care widely accessible. Dr. Foot’s commitment to innovation has been recognized internationally with gold medals at the iENA International Trade Fair in Nuremberg and the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival, among other prestigious honors.

Der Lee Tai Industrial Co., Ltd. (德利泰興業)

Website: derleetai.com.tw

Introduction

Founded in 1993 by Ching-niu Chen (陳清鈕), Der Lee Tai — also known as Daily Health (德利泰) — is one of Taiwan’s leading Traditional Chinese Medicine and herbal wholesale companies. Headquartered in the historic Dadaocheng district of Taipei, the brand bridges the gap between traditional herbal wisdom and modern daily life through rigorous quality control, traceability, and interactive education. The company supplies TCM clinics, restaurants, food factories, and raw material processing plants across Taiwan, with a strict emphasis on professional cold-chain storage to preserve freshness and quality.

The Founder: Ching-niu Chen

Ching-niu Chen’s story is as compelling as the herbs he champions. He began as an apprentice in a Dihua Street herbal pharmacy at the age of 23, and driven by a deep passion for medicinal ingredients, traveled extensively across production regions in his twenties to master the art of sourcing and processing. Today, he is widely respected for transforming traditional herb trading into a modernized, scientifically rigorous industry — a transformation that is evident in every aspect of Der Lee Tai’s operations.

Food as Medicine: The TCM Philosophy

Ching-niu Chen opened the session with a compelling presentation on the core philosophy of TCM: the ancient belief that food and medicine share the same origin, and that what we consume daily can either prevent illness or promote healing. This ‘food as medicine’ principle underpins every product Der Lee Tai creates. The presentation covered the foundational concepts of balance in the body, the role of qi (vital energy), and how specific herbs target different organs and conditions.

A World of Ingredients

One of the most captivating parts of the visit was a live showcase of raw materials. Ching-niu Chen walked us through an impressive array of traditional ingredients — deer antler, turtle shell, lingzhi mushroom, astragalus (huangqi), medicinal spices, and everyday food ingredients with therapeutic properties. Even toothpaste crafted from Chinese herbs was on display, a striking example of how TCM principles extend well beyond the kitchen. The company carefully grades and processes its raw materials into granules, slices, strips, and other forms to meet the diverse needs of its clients.

Hands-On Experience

The visit took a delightful interactive turn as we tasted Der Lee Tai’s signature herbal wine — a smooth, aromatic blend rooted in traditional recipes. We then participated in a hands-on herbal drink packing session, gaining a firsthand appreciation for the precision and care embedded in each product. The experience made centuries-old TCM tradition feel both accessible and deeply relevant to modern wellness culture.

Wistron Medical Technology Corp.

Website: wistronmedtech.com

Introduction

Our fourth visit was to Wistron Medical Technology Corp., hosted by Alice Chou, Account Manager, Wistron Medical Technology Corp., and Iris Lin, Account Associate, Wistron Medical Technology Corp. They delivered an engaging and comprehensive walkthrough of the company’s vision and product portfolio. A subsidiary of the Wistron Group, Wistron Medical Technology provides total solutions in IVD, exoskeleton robotics, and intelligent healthcare — leveraging world-class manufacturing experience and a robust supply chain to bring medtech products from concept to clinical deployment.

Wearable Robotics: Keeogo and Exia

The centerpiece of the presentation was Wistron’s wearable robotics lineup. Keeogo is a lower-limb powered human mobility device featuring proprietary Dermoskeleton technology — an ultra-lightweight exoskeleton weighing just 6.8 kg that uses motion sensors to detect intended movement and activates motor assistance accordingly. Originally developed by Canadian innovator B-Temia Inc. and commercialized in Asia through Wistron, Keeogo is designed for rehabilitation settings including gait training, sit-to-stand transitions, squatting, and stair climbing. The name itself reflects its spirit: Keep on Going. Also presented was the German Bionic Exia, a powerful upper-body exoskeleton suited for workers in physically demanding environments.

Trying It On: BestShape Go and Exia

The undoubted highlight of the visit was the opportunity to wear and experience the BestShape Go and Exia devices firsthand. Putting on the equipment provided immediate, tangible insight into how wearable robotics reduce physical strain and assist natural movement — bringing the often abstract promise of exoskeleton technology vividly to life.

A Peek Behind the Curtain: The Production Facility

Adding another dimension to the visit, we were taken on a tour of Wistron’s production facility where we observed the soldering process firsthand. Watching skilled technicians at work gave us a deeper appreciation of the precision engineering and quality control that underpins every device Wistron brings to market — a reminder that world-class medtech is as much about meticulous manufacturing as it is about bold innovation.

Contactless Monitoring: BestShape VS

Equally impressive was Wistron’s non-contact health monitoring technology. BestShape VS uses millimeter-wave radar combined with AIoT and machine learning to continuously monitor physiological parameters — including respiration and heart rate — entirely without physical contact or image capture. Unlike CCTV-based monitoring systems, BestShape VS does not record or transmit any visual imagery, making it a discreet and privacy-respecting solution suitable for a wide range of sensitive environments. Its applications span elderly care monitoring at home, patient observation in hospital wards, and even infant monitoring — all without any physical intrusion or discomfort to the individual. The system is also equipped with an intelligent alert mechanism that notifies caregivers in real time whenever changes in physiological readings or abnormal physical activity are detected, enabling timely intervention before situations escalate.

iMedtac Co., Ltd.

Website: imedtac.com

Introduction

The final visit of the Go Healthy Media Tour brought us to iMedtac Co., Ltd., where we were warmly hosted by Jason Miao, Director, iMedtac Co., Ltd. iMedtac is a Taiwan-based AIoT healthcare expert focused on building integrated, patient-centered care platforms that improve clinical efficiency and reduce human error across hospitals, care facilities, and remote healthcare settings.

A Smart Healthcare Ecosystem

Jason Miao, Director, iMedtac Co., Ltd., opened with the company’s founding conviction: that the fusion of medical science and ICT technology is the key to solving healthcare’s most persistent pain points — medication errors, inefficient workflows, and gaps in continuity of care. Operating as a system integrator, iMedtac implements projects directly with hospitals and healthcare facilities in Taiwan, tailoring each deployment to integrate seamlessly with the client’s existing Hospital Information System (HIS) based on their specific operational needs. For international markets, iMedtac works through a trusted network of local resellers to extend their solutions globally. Their platform integrates IoT devices including wearables, mobile health apps, and cloud services into a fast healthcare interoperability framework. Every patient’s situation is monitored in real time, all care tasks are recorded and routed to the responsible caregiver, and a closed-loop system continuously feeds insights back into the workflow to improve quality and ease staff workload.

Remote Diagnostics and Telehealth

One of the most compelling solutions presented was iMedtac’s telehealth platform, iMTele, which combines patient information, live video, and vital signs data into a single interface for virtual specialist consultations. Jason shared real-life case studies illustrating how this technology has extended quality medical care to patients far from major hospitals — including applications in remote areas, military settings, and underserved communities.

Medical Storage and Dispensary Innovation

Jason Miao walked us through iMedtac’s iMADC automated dispensing cabinet — a secure, intelligent medication management system that automates dispensing, controls inventory, manages user access, and reduces the risk of medication errors. The presentation gave us a clear understanding of how the iMADC-Lite variant, which requires no hospital information system integration, can be rapidly deployed across a wide range of clinical environments with minimal setup.

Beyond medication management, iMedtac’s ecosystem extends into broader hospital operations. Their Operating Room scheduling solution optimizes surgical workflow and resource allocation, improving efficiency across one of the most time-sensitive environments in any hospital. E-ink collaboration technology powers electronic paper signage throughout care facilities — offering a low-energy, easily updatable alternative to traditional displays for patient information, room assignments, and clinical communications. Adding to their monitoring portfolio is a radar-based vital signs monitoring device, currently pending FDA approval, which promises to further expand their non-intrusive patient monitoring capabilities into new clinical and regulatory markets.

Complementing all of the above are solutions such as the Smart Ward system, Digital Operating Room, and Smart Vital Signs Station, forming a comprehensive ecosystem for end-to-end hospital digitization.
